System engineering

At LHQG, we are Tech Engineers, specialized in UNIX/Linux system administration and engineering. We have acquired years of experience on both physical servers (bare metal) and virtual machines. We worked for various industries (energy, transportation, banking, ...).

The approach we have chosen is to adapt industrialization and automation to the needs and to the constraints of our client. We define together with you the target level, ranging from complete automation to fully manual configuration.

We have important skills and sound knowledge of the IT domains neighboring the operating system: storage (SAN/NAS), databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL/MariaDB,...), networks, ... This overall vision makes LHQG a relevant partner to work with on industrialisation, security and resilience.

We have been working with agile methods for many years, in DevOps and now in DevSecOps mode, so that we help you integrate security aspects very early in your value chain.

LHQG can work with you organization for short-term services or long-term missions.

Our professional services range

Consulting, study,

diagnostic, integration

LHQG engineers have been working on UNIX/Linux operating systems for years. All along their careers, our Tech Engineers developed their operational knowledge on operating systems. They also broadened the horizon of their on-the-field technical skills: databases, storage, network, middleware,... and also their knowledge of servers infrastructure organization.

This wide set of experiences and skills enables our engineers to have a critical look and insight on UNIX/Linux in their organization ecosystem.

Consulting/study/diagnostic

LHQG Tech Engineers work within the IT/Tech teams to observe and analyze the situation and draw a diagnostic: security, resilience, ease of operation, performance, ...

Integration

LHQG Techs Engineers help your organization with installation and implementation phases for sotfware or infrastructure solutions ; they also assist you with the definition of your backup policies...

IT security hardening

Both CISSP and ISO/IEC-27001:2022 trained, LHQG UNIX/Linux engineers promptly and effectively integrate your teams to join the security reinforcement (hardening) effort. We are relevant actor, at the interface between IT/Tech Ops teams, Dev teams and IT security analysts.

Hardening
  • Compliance rules/targets definition (Security Baseline) for OS and main middlewares (Apache, Tomcat, ...),
  • Compliance rules enforcement/automation,
  • Compliance tests definition.
SELinux policy
  • Default policy (shipped with the OS) customization to your needs and constraints?,
  • Development of additional policies to create/reinforce the confinement of applications and/or users processes.
Resilience
  • Availability: storage redundancy, database replication, ...
  • BCP/DRP: implementation at the OS level, teams assistance, DR exercises/tests conduct,
  • Backup/Restore: OS level backups, database level backups (eg: Oracle RMAN).

Generic system engineering

RHCSA certified, LHQG system engineers join your organisation teams to perform usual system administration and engineering tasks.

Design
  • Installation templates creation and maintenance,
  • OS/server layout before database engine installation,
  • Backup/Restore operational policies design,
  • Availability and resilience implementation,
  • Supervision/monitoring probes development.
Servers Installation/Configuration
  • RedHat Satellite (Linux), NIM (AX) installation and deployment,
  • Foreman, Puppet installation and deployment,

On Linux RedHat and likes (RHEL, CentOS, AlmaLinux, Rocky...) and on IBM AIX.

When your organization situation commands (suppliers/providers procurement policies, service providers teams policies/agreements, ...), LHQG engineers may intervene as subcontractors through a 3rd party company.
